Art in Aldeburgh
Suffolk
Aldeburgh is the cultural heart of the Suffolk coast. Home to the festival founded by Benjamin Britten and to Snape Maltings just inland, the town has drawn artists for generations to its shingle beach, its fishermen's huts and the extraordinary North Sea light that Maggi Hambling's Scallop sculpture now sits within. It remains one of the most painted stretches of coastline in England.
Use this guide to find painters, printmakers, sculptors and photographers based in and around Aldeburgh - including nearby Snape, Thorpeness and the Alde estuary villages - together with the galleries showing their work and the exhibitions coming up along the coast.
