Simon Page
Simon Page, born in 1962, is a British artist working and living in Suffolk. He studied Art Foundation at The Colchester Institute, and Education at Homerton College Cambridge. He taught Art at Harrow School, 1987-2019. Since 2019 he has worked full time on his practice. He was the winner of The New English Art Club's Climate Emergency Prize, 2026, and the winner of the Winsor and Newton Award, 2025. He has been shortlisted for the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize three times, 2023, 2024 and 2026. He was shortlisted for the Derwent Art Prize, 2026, and the Hogarth Art Prize 2026. He has exhibited widely in the UK, including The Royal Academy, The Royal Scottish Academy, The Mall Galleries, ING Discerning Eye, Hogarth's House, The Salisbury Museum, The National Waterfront Museum of Wales, The Oxo Gallery, Wells Cathedral, Cooper Gallery Dundee, Falmouth Art Gallery, The Turnpike Wigan, Snape Maltings, Shakespeare's Globe and The Norwegian Church Cardiff.
Artist Statement
I make work that is by and large a response to all that goes with living in a post pandemic, climate crisis world. In what feels like a time of unprecedented threat posed by the near-overwhelming consequences of human excess and hubris, I look, in a very very small way, for glimpses of hope and light. And, I suppose, ultimately, the work is about redemption and love; the deep and complex relationship between individual/society/land/nature.
Drawings are the starting point. The larger pieces collect into a body of work that is distilled through Photoshop into complex, layered compositions, re-emerging into the analogue world and presented as collages.
