A high quality gallery specialising in Modern British rather than Contemporary art, it's a worthy and serious player in the Aldeburgh art scene because of its focused portfolio.
Middlemarch Fine Art was founded in 2014 and is curated by Belinda Allen Agar, who specialises in Modern British and mid to late twentieth century artists, including those associated with St Ives and East Anglia. The collection takes in abstract and figurative painting, works on paper, sculpture and original rare prints.
The gallery is based at the Courtyard Gallery in Aldeburgh, with works also shown by appointment in London and at art fairs through the year. Belinda Allen Agar, who has been collecting Modern British art for thirty five years and holds a BA and an MSt in the arts, also curates for private clients and sources works to commission. She set up and curates the Aldeburgh Art Fair.
