Gainsborough's House
A unique combination of artist's birthplace, historic museum, and striking contemporary gallery.
Gainsborough's House in Sudbury, Suffolk, is where Thomas Gainsborough - one of Britain's greatest painters - was born and grew up. The Grade I listed house sits at the historic core of a museum devoted to his life and work. In November 2022 the museum opened a major contemporary extension, the National Centre for Thomas Gainsborough, bringing state-of-the-art galleries, education spaces and a sculpture garden. The enlarged museum pairs the intimacy of the artist's family home with a lively exhibition programme that sets Gainsborough in conversation with both historic and contemporary art. It now ranks among East Anglia's most important art museums and is a landmark for anyone drawn to British painting.

What a cool and groundbreaking event, bringing together the worlds of Art and Agriculture through a moderated conversation. Never were two bedfellows stranger. But that's a sure formula for a fascinating and unexpected conversation.
