What a cool and groundbreaking event, bringing together the worlds of Art and Agriculture through a moderated conversation. Never were two bedfellows stranger. But that's a sure formula for a fascinating and unexpected conversation.

- The Editors

David Dawson is joined by the academic and writer Camilla Toulmin and the Suffolk organic mixed arable and sheep farmer John Pawsey, in conversation chaired by Calvin Winner, Executive Director of Gainsborough's House.

Dawson keeps an upland sheep farm in mid-Wales, and his painting examines the relationship between humans and animals, our connectedness to the natural world, and the realities of agrarian life. Toulmin studies how people and livestock have over centuries shaped the landscapes of savanna Africa and upland Europe, and writes on agrifood systems, climate and soils. Pawsey owns Shimpling Park Farms, growing a range of crops alongside a breeding flock of sheep.

Doors open at 1.45pm. The event is held in the Landscape Studio, which is accessible via lift.
