Anteros Arts Foundation

Anteros Arts Foundation is a registered charity on Fye Bridge Street in the centre of Norwich, in a listed building whose galleries, studios and hall sit behind a green Victorian shopfront. Its exhibitions predominantly showcase artists from Norwich and East Anglia, alongside occasional national and international practitioners, and in its own words it celebrates diversity, promotes equality, tackles discrimination and fosters equal opportunities, welcoming differences in taste, style, form, ability and experience.

Its two galleries, the Main Gallery and the Front Room, are available for hire, individually or together, in weeklong blocks. The programme is therefore driven by the artists who book the space, from seasoned exhibitors to absolute beginners, and Anteros is fully booked through 2026 and taking enquiries for 2027.

The foundation supports each exhibition by giving curatorial advice ahead of installation day and working alongside the artist on the hang itself, providing plinths, easels and wall hangings, and help with labels and price lists. It hosts an open view or meet-the-artist event during the run, puts the show on its website and photographs it for its Instagram and Facebook pages, manages sales, enquiries and payments, and assists with the take-down and settlement afterwards. In return the artist supplies the work, a biography and statement, marketing images, and their presence at the opening.

The galleries are open to the public seven days a week, free to enter, and see around a thousand visitors a month. Alongside the exhibitions Anteros runs classes, music, talks and comedy, hires its rooms for weddings and events, and houses artists' studios. Its patron is Lord John Bird, founder of The Big Issue, himself a studio holder there.
