Zasmina Nedelcevova

Zasmina Nedelcevova, who works under the name Žesi, is an abstract painter based in Frinton-on-Sea, Essex. Her paintings explore what she describes as controlled complexity: dense, layered compositions of colour, texture and movement, built up to trigger positive emotions in the viewer.

Much of her work responds to the natural world and the systems beneath it: the currents that move water across oceans, the organisms that transform the soil, and the hidden networks that sustain ecosystems. Her solo exhibition Beneath the Surface, at the Museum of the Environment in Ipswich as part of its programme The Shape of Change, gathered work inspired by these environmental systems, drawing viewers into landscapes that feel at once familiar and unfamiliar and asking how everything in nature is connected, and what happens when those relationships are disrupted.

Alongside her abstract compositions she paints flower pieces, many of them bouquets set in patterned vases.
