Claire Deciacco
Claire Deciacco is a self-taught, emerging landscape artist based in Colchester, Essex, working predominantly in oils. She has a particular love of working en plein air (painting from life outdoors) using a limited palette, and also works up larger pieces from studies and photographic references in the studio. The Essex coast and countryside where she lives hold a special interest, with the aim of capturing the fleeting light and the essence of the landscape. She is inspired by 19th-century artists including John Constable's oil sketches (painted in nearby Dedham), Arthur Streeton, Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot and Joaquin Sorolla, and takes part in regular life drawing classes. Having started out as a professional dancer, Claire went on to run her own graphic design business for 25 years. She is a member of Colchester Art Society and Dedham Art Society, taking part in their regular plein air meet-ups, and has exhibited her paintings in various group shows.
