Sue Nicholas
Sue Nicholas is a fine artist who works predominantly in acrylic painting, as well as in digital format and print.
She holds a BA Hons in Fine Art from Goldsmiths College, where she studied under Bert Irwin, Basil Beattie and Michael Craig-Martin. An earlier career in collage and sculpture after leaving Goldsmiths, under her maiden name of Susan Dale, is credited in David Buckman's reference book "Artists in Britain since 1945".
She has exhibited extensively in galleries regionally, internationally and digitally online. Her work is represented by Art Boxy.
Artist Statement
My art practice is split between digital art and acrylic painting.
My artistic vision aims to capture the viewer's imagination although my artistic philosophy is unconventional as I tend to start every work with a spontaneous new view, expanding the limits of my imagination and personal consciousness.
Unlike many artists whose work revolves around the exploration of persona or outward identity, my work takes a plunge into the enigmatic realm of inner consciousness. Delving deep, seeking to understand and portray the fluidity of self, intertwined with the life force or consciousness that resides within. It's a journey into an inner landscape, a quest to connect with that elusive force which can only be glimpsed through imagination or experienced in moments of profound meditation.
But what exactly does this inner consciousness look like? In the work it manifests as a vibrant tapestry of thoughts, feelings, and sensations, all intricately woven together. The paintings serve as a visual representation of these dynamic complexities, capturing the nuances of mind, soul and the intricate web of neural networks that define our existence.
