Patrick Boswell

Patrick Boswell is a painter working in oil from his studio in Wymondham, Norfolk. His paintings are inspired by light and colour and reflect the changing mood of North Norfolk, with beach and yachting scenes painted with gusto alongside an attention to detail that says this is a man who knows his subject. Evocative of British impressionist painting, he is at his best capturing figurative events, and is at the very least a powerful tonal painter.

His subjects include seascapes, coastal and beach landscapes, Broadland sailing scenes, dinghy sailing and studio interiors, as well as local and international landscapes. He paints on the spot at the Broadland regattas, sometimes from his boat Curlew and other times from land.

He is a National Prizewinner of the Laing Art Competition and the author of four books illustrated with his painting diaries. Between November 2022 and November 2023 he completed the Wymondham Scroll, a 164 foot watercolour of the medieval and Georgian heart of Wymondham, launched at Becketts Chapel, Wymondham Arts Centre.
