Naomi Pilling
Naomi Pilling is primarily a printmaker. She also paints. She works with traditional intaglio techniques, including etching, aquatint, sugar lift, spit bite and drypoint, as well as lino and monotype.
Her work often draws on landscape and the natural world, producing both figurative and abstract images, alongside urban landscapes and interiors. She takes particular pleasure in the technical processes of printmaking, and works both in a print studio in London and in her own studio in Earl Soham, Suffolk, where she has a Gunning press.
Naomi is also a teacher. She has written an art and art history curriculum for primary schools that is taught nationally and internationally, trains primary school teachers to teach art, and in 2026 led the team redrafting the art and design national curriculum for Northern Ireland. Her book How to Lead It: Primary Art and Design (Bloomsbury, 2026) reflects her belief in the importance of teaching art in the primary classroom, and her commitment to giving everyone access to art, whatever their background or prior experience.
