Laurie Green
Laurie Green is a mythopoetic performance artist who works with relationship as both method and medium. They use intimacy and love to rescript social contracts, cocreating relational forms and remaking reality by attempting to meet the other. Artworks emerge as artefacts from this relational substrate as prophetic affect-generating assemblages and images.
Lauris is one half of international artist partnership laulau paagli (affectionately known as lapa), alongside Kolkata-based artist sanghamitra সঙ্ঘমিত্রা.
They co-facilitate CONVERGE, a monthly meeting and live art platform for artists working with the body across East Anglia, alongside Poppy Jackson and Ruth Biene, and work from BodyLand Studios at Wyken Vineyards in Suffolk, and Prospect Farmhouse in Diss, Norfolk.
They also publish I LOVE YOU, an ongoing written and visual project described as a confession in search of encounter, and curate gatherings of artists around love, feeling and connection, including the launch of the book Deliquescent Beings: A Neuroqueering Book of Love.
Artist Statement
After a period of isolation, withdrawal, and social atrophy, I've spent the last 6 years learning how to connect and be present in relationships. My work is confession in search of encounter. An embodied exploration of relationship, love, and connection. I am offering relationship and connection to those of you who yearn to Meet The Other. To you, seeking depth and intimacy beyond what's usually offered by normative culture. What might we create together? Let's meet each other!
