Ed Halsey

Ed Halsey creates small-scale, two-dimensional works that play with a floating sense of time. With a strong emphasis on colour and line, these often postcard- or photograph-sized pieces focus on the familiar. Delicate stories are rendered through equally delicate marks and brushstrokes, making it difficult for the viewer’s eye to settle on any one area of the picture plane.

Interiors, window views and landscapes repeat and merge, often sliding into abstraction as the everyday is probed and transformed into a reimagined world. Ed holds a degree in Fine Art from Norwich School of Art and Design and spent more than ten years working as a set painter for the Royal Opera House in London. He is currently based in Bungay, Suffolk.
