Cromer Artspace
Artspace on the Prom is a contemporary art gallery housed in a striking Art Deco building on Cromer's west promenade, fused into the cliffside and facing north over the sea. The building's facade keeps the clean geometric lines and curved corners of 1930s design, and the north light makes it a good room to hang work in. There is full disabled access and parking nearby.
Programming runs across painting, sculpture, photography, textiles and installation, showing artists working nationally and internationally alongside artists from the region. Cromer Artspace was set up to encourage art in public spaces and to build community involvement, on the principle that art should be accessible to everybody, and it fills a gap between the opportunities of a big city and a rural coastal location. It is a registered charity run by a small group of volunteers, and it also runs artist bursaries and winter residencies.
