Cliff Edge: Textile Art on the Brink

2 Oct 2026 - 14 Oct 2026

Recommended

Cliff Edge captures the precarious moment where textile art stands today: between tradition and innovation, craft and concept, material and message. Like the literal cliff edge of Cromer, where land meets void and stability gives way to erosion, this showcase explores how textile artists confront sudden shifts, high stakes and the possibility of collapse or transformation.

The show is built around three themes. Disruption: works that challenge norms of textile practice, pushing boundaries of form, function and meaning. Risk: pieces that embrace fragility, impermanence or political urgency. Tension: threads pulled taut between past and future, identity and abstraction, comfort and confrontation.

Work is chosen by open call, selected by a panel of Kate Farley, Jessica Loveday and Sandra Morris. Artists who would like to submit can find the details at https://cromer-artspace.uk/textile-art-on-the-brink-call-out/. The deadline for submissions is Monday 24 August 2026, and selected artists are notified by 13 September.
