Richard Sawdon Smith
Richard Sawdon Smith is a photographer based in Norwich, Professor of Photography and Director of Art, Design & Architecture (DADA) at Norwich University of the Arts. He exhibits and publishes internationally.
He mostly works with his own body as his subject, from the anatomical drawings and medical procedures tattooed onto his skin to portraits addressing HIV and AIDS, and he collaborates with other artists and with medical practitioners.
He is a former winner of the John Kobal / National Portrait Gallery Photographic Portrait Award, sits on the editorial advisory panel of the Journal of Photography and Culture, and is co-editor of Langford's Basic Photography and The Book is Alive!
