Melvyn King

Melvyn King is a painter based in Harwich, Essex, where he has lived and worked since 1981. He trained at St Albans School of Art, took his Diploma in Art and Design at the Central School of Arts and Crafts, and completed postgraduate study at the Royal Academy Schools. He has exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and is a frequent exhibitor at North House Gallery in Manningtree.

A long-standing member of Colchester Art Society, he serves on its General Committee and as Curator of its Permanent Collection and Archivist. He is a member of Bodgeners Gallery in Harwich and shows annually in the Harwich Festival. In 2026 his work appeared in the Debenhams window project in Colchester, and he is taking part in Dovercourt Open Studios.
