Artist Statement

With a background in ceramics I have always liked tactile materials and a three dimensional approach. This is something I appreciate when working with textiles, papers and found objects. I enjoy exploring the variety of fabrics, papers, screen and digital print, making my own collage papers, as well as making artist books. I am particularly fascinated by translucent materials and the effect and depth their layering can achieve.

Inspiration can come from anywhere, whether from an urban or natural environment, from something I read or a phrase I hear, a visual trigger, anything can find its way into my creative world.

After a long creative break I came back to creative work a few years ago by initially making my own felt which led me to discover the wide range of textile techniques and manipulation and moving on from there to discovering collage and in general expanding my use of a variety of materials.
