Katherine Cheesman
Katherine Cheesman is a self taught artist based in West Row, Suffolk. She was born in Chelmsford, Essex, and has lived in Suffolk since 2018.
She works mainly in oils, and also in pen and ink, pastel and watercolour. She paints from life and outdoors, and takes portrait and animal commissions.
Artist Statement
I am inspired by the peace and solitude found within nature and the great outdoors. I have always been drawn to the energy in water, and this is what brings me peace and solitude.
I love to capture that fleeting moment in time on canvas, which can tell such a story. The changing light has always been mysterious and magical to me, and it is something I always strive to convey.
Although my art is primarily influenced by the land and sea, I also enjoy the discipline of portraiture and representing human and animal forms in varying environments.
