Karen Turner

Karen Turner is a multi-award-winning painter working in oil, based in Suffolk. Born in London in 1978, her art career began in her mid-forties after twenty five years working in a corporate world.

Her paintings are celebrations of the female body and of people tired of shrinking themselves to fit. Since becoming a professional artist she has received multiple awards, exhibited across the UK, been featured in national and international publications, and judged regional and national art prizes.

Her awards include the Boynes Monthly Art Award and the VAA Professional Artist Award, both won in 2022 and 2023, the Art Fluent Evolution Grant, and the Institute of East Anglian Artists President's Prize in 2021. She was a finalist for the Dubel Emerging Artist of the Year Prize in 2023 and 2024, and for the Beautiful Bizarre Art Prize in 2023. She is one of the artists on BBC One's Extraordinary Portraits with Bill Bailey, first appearing in series four in 2025 and returning for series five in 2026.
