Jo Angell
Jo Angell is a British artist based in Wivenhoe, Essex, who also works in London. Working primarily in acrylic paint, her practice explores the expressive potential of colour, shape and texture. Her work is rooted in abstraction, and she finds inspiration from continuous visual foraging wherever she visits, sketchbook and camera in hand.
Painting followed a long first career in design. Angell trained as a graphic designer and practised in London and New York before returning to study for an MA in Textile Futures at Central Saint Martins.
She has been selected three times for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, and showed two works in the ING Discerning Eye exhibition at the Mall Galleries, London. She was invited to show a small collection of work at the launch of the new online gallery at The Minories, Colchester. She is a member of the Colchester Art Society and Artcan, and regularly exhibits with the Wivenhoe Art Trail and Crouch End Open Studios.
