Geoff Litchfield
Originally from Leicester, Geoff Litchfield has been involved in art and art education for over forty years, working mainly in the secondary and tertiary sectors with additional spells as a freelance museum educator and artist-in-residence. He has lived in Suffolk since 1993. Now retired from teaching, he continues to pursue his discourse with the visual image. He is a member of the collective Easterly Artists.
Artist Statement
Much of Litchfield’s work centres on the creation of new tensions and narratives created by the juxtaposition of related and disparate forms and the intervention of chance within this process. These new narratives are explored in both analogue and digital forms, where the imperfect and the accidental are encouraged to influence outcomes which move freely between these two worlds. The subject matter within the pieces range from the whimsical, absurd and surreal to those addressing contemporary and political concerns. For many years Litchfield has also developed more conceptual explorations under the pseudonym of George Kaplan, a fictitious artist created with four others during student years.
