Daphne Sandham

Daphne Sandham was born and brought up in North London. In her teens the family moved to Northamptonshire, and in the late 1960s she went to Leicester Polytechnic to take a Dip AD in Fine Art. After a year out painting landscapes and portraits, she returned to London to spend three postgraduate years at the Royal Academy Schools, drawing and painting from the figure and practising etching and lithography in the print workshop. She paints landscapes, seagulls, still lifes, flowers and portraits in oil and watercolour, makes pots, and continues printmaking. She is a member of Colchester Art Society.

Artist Statement

I moved to the seaside in 1982 and now live and work in a rambling house and garden overlooking the estuary on one side and the open sea on the other. I paint in oils and watercolours, make ceramics and continue printmaking.
