Free Hand: Alex Curry

5 Sep 2026 - 11 Sep 2026

A solo exhibition of drawings by Alex Curry, an artist based in rural Suffolk who studied fine art at Winchester and Norwich Schools of Art.

Curry draws large industrial and architectural structures, transmitters and electrical installations, isolated against a plain background in order to appreciate their intricate forms and to highlight the issues of information, energy and resources. He also works in sculptural relief, on oak panels inlaid with hand-cut and wrought steel that depict the East Anglian coastal estuaries.

He is represented by Gallery East in Woodbridge, and has shown with the Society of Graphic Fine Art at the Mall Galleries and in the Summer Contemporary at Snape. Three of his drawings were commissioned for public spaces in the converted BBC Television Centre in London.

The Watch House stands on Orford Quay, at the far end of the village near the mouth of the River Ore, with parking in the car park just before the water.
