Urban Moments: Jan Kevlin
17 Nov 2026 - 22 Nov 2026
Jan Kevlin is an artist and printmaker living in North Norfolk. Her work is about telling a story, focusing on the small, unconsidered details of modern life.
How often do we walk around places we know well and make a bee line from A to B? How frantic and stressful can our lives be if we "have no time to stand or stare"? What happens when we slow our pace and look at the buildings around us? What if we imagine their stories, who they are, what brought them to this place in this time?
Urban Moments features a range of linocut prints which explore these themes. Jan is interested in people going about their everyday lives and taking pleasure in simple things, such as drinking a cup of coffee, looking out of a train window, or sketching with a friend. She tries to capture the movement and rhythm of people in motion in her artwork. She is also fascinated by the character of buildings and how their structure and architecture can almost convey a personality. Her prints of the distinctive Anglia Square buildings give some impression of how they used to be. A fleeting urban moment.
Jan has exhibited in galleries in Norfolk and London and has work in private collections in the UK and overseas. Her work is hand printed, so there may be slight variations in each print in a series.
