Sara Anton-Watts
Sara Anton-Watts is a painter and artist based in Colchester, Essex. Following an art foundation at the North East Essex School of Art in the 1980s, she completed a degree in textile design and technology and then worked as an interior designer for 34 years, running her own company for the last 20 years. She paints full time on canvas with traditional oil paint, applied with brush, palette knife and other tools to invoke movement, often using mediums such as marble dust, chalk and wax. She is drawn to coastal and landscape vistas, from the south and north of Cornwall and more locally in Essex and Suffolk. She paints traditionally in a contemporary way, often moving towards abstraction, and has exhibited locally. She is a member of Colchester Art Society and an artist member of The Minories.
Artist Statement
I decided to be led by my heart and with a leap of faith from the Norfolk Painting School in 2019, and after finishing my last interior design projects in 2022 I became a full time painter and professional artist, and haven't looked back since! I love what I do and get totally lost in creating a painting with a passion.
