Luchong
Luchong is a multidisciplinary artist who uses painting, sound development and storytelling to explore the emotional landscapes that shape human experience. Drawing on personal experiences and observations, she examines vulnerability, self-discovery, quiet emotion, connection and feelings that are often suppressed. Working primarily with acrylic on canvas, she creates figurative paintings distinguished by captivating gazes, subtle expressions and richly textured surfaces. Fabric, sculptural jewellery and hand-moulded embellishments add further layers to her work. Her subjects appear quiet and contemplative but carry an emotional intensity that invites prolonged engagement, encouraging viewers to look beyond the surface and reflect on their own memories, emotions and questions. Through this openness to interpretation, Luchong creates spaces for reflection and considers the complexities of being human.
Alongside her paintings, Luchong creates immersive sound pieces composed entirely of layered recordings of her voice, breath, resonance and vibration. Developed in conversation with the paintings, these works emerge through a process of listening and response.
