Lo_Mu

Lo_Mu was born in South Africa. She travelled the world in her 20's before putting roots down in the UK in her 30's. Lo_Mu recently retired from the NHS and is now following a lifelong dream, making art full-time from her Norwich studio.

Her work draws on universal themes of place, sexuality, spirituality and the natural world, and is built through experimentation with images, mark making, texture, artistic accident and visual play.

Artist Statement

I make art to spread peace, positivity & to provoke thought. I believe in a shared imagination and am drawn to images around me that have both personal and universal meaning.

My work is a fusion of figurative and abstract elements, focusing on expression rather than literal representation. I shape-shift and juxtapose elements, creating counterpoint, surprise and chance scenarios, questioning the way we see things.

In my latest works, the horse, the bird and the dog recur. The horse symbolises physical strength, the bird symbolises spirituality and freedom, the dog symbolises loyalty and protection.
