Klair Bauly

Klair Bauly is a painter based in Hessett, near Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, where she works from her own studio.

She studied woven textiles at West Surrey College of Art and Design from 1976 to 1979, and colour and texture have been the common thread of her path ever since: first in textiles, then in gardening, which brought her closer to nature and to the intricacies of structure and form.

Her work is held by collectors in the USA, Canada, Norway and Europe, and is available through the Art in East Anglia gallery in Bury St Edmunds. She is a member of Suffolk Open Studios and exhibits with the Mid Suffolk Art Collective.

Artist Statement

Feeling the essence of shape, line and form influences my artistic expression. Seeing beauty in the world, I paint to create a sense of space and freedom to bring you into the moment, the now. Working with simplicity is a key component using balance, repetition, minimalism and a sense of calm contemplation. Making peaceful, ethereal and minimal paintings, saying more with less is a particular emphasis, so my work can bring this into your home and into your life.

My whole ethos is to use natural materials where ever possible. I use paint made from 100% natural pigments made using solar power and papers made from plants. This is of significant importance to me, to leave behind work that is not detrimental to our beautiful planet in the future.
