J Hugh L Beattie
Oil painter and Illustrator mostly concerned with Historical subjects. From Portraits to Medieval warfare, Hugh paints to support his cultural heritage. He was trained as a classicist in Florence but has also studied in Camberwell art School and Chelsea. He now works near Colchester and has painting most of the Historic places of North Essex.
Artist Statement
I pinted commissions for the British Army all my working life, and served as a Yeomanry Captain. Now I visit all the major History shows in the Country and exhibit my work to fellow history lovers.
