Fi Kane
Fi Kane is a Scottish artist whose work is often inspired by the beauty and drama of her homeland. The wild skies, shifting weather, and rugged landscapes of Scotland instil a deep appreciation for atmosphere, mood, and place. Now living in southeast England, she takes fresh inspiration each day in the quieter rhythms of the landscape—through long walks, changing seasons, and the subtle character of the natural surroundings.
She works in watercolour, acrylic and oil, choosing between them according to the mood of the piece she is making.
Artist Statement
I paint quiet, atmospheric moments where landscape, weather and memory blur into one. From mist-bound forests and rain-soaked roads to solitary figures on windswept shores, my work explores how light, climate and passing time shape our inner lives. Each piece is an invitation to pause, breathe, and feel the beauty in life's fleeting, in-between moments. If a painting of mine reminds someone of a half-remembered day, a familiar walk, or a fleeting feeling they can't quite put into words, then I feel I've done my job.
Light is central to my practice. I am fascinated by the way it alters form, softens edges, and reveals unexpected detail. My paintings are less about recording a scene than about holding on to a particular feeling — a moment of stillness, change, or quiet intensity just before it passes. Light has the power to alter both nature and everyday objects, creating moments that feel fleeting yet timeless. I seek out those brief intersections where light, time, and place align, capturing scenes that might otherwise go unnoticed and revealing the quiet extraordinariness hidden within the everyday.
I paint atmospheric landscapes and quiet human moments with softened edges, muted colour and layered light, focusing less on detail and more on the feeling of a place remembered.
