Dee Nicholson

Dee Nicholson is a textile artist based in Rumburgh, Suffolk, whose work draws on nature and on landscape, the Norfolk and Suffolk coastline among it.

She has sewn for most of her life, beginning as a girl by making dolls' clothes with her grandmother and going on to make clothes for herself and her friends. After taking early retirement she qualified as an interior designer, but found herself drawn again and again to textiles, and in particular to textile art. She brought together her interests in nature and in fabric, first in work based on leaves and trees and, more recently, in landscapes.

Her work has been exhibited across Europe, in France, Germany, Holland and Luxembourg, and further afield in Russia, Japan and Brazil. She opens her studio as part of the Rumburgh Hub during Suffolk Open Studios.
