Borin Van Loon

Borin Van Loon is a British author, collagist, and surrealist painter/assemblage-maker and illustrator best known for his design/illustrations of fifteen Beginners /Introducing... a series of graphic books on complex subjects. He created an eclectic collage/cartoon mural on the subject of DNA and genetics for the Health Matters Gallery in London's Science Museum. Van Loon published 'The Bart Dickon Omnibus' of his hero's derring-do in 2005 comprising a surrealist collage graphic novel. He has written, designed and illustrated two model-making books: DNA: The Marvellous Molecule, which enables the reader to build a colour model of the double-helix structure and Geodesic Domes. He also painted many oil studies and designed the diagrams for 'Letts Pocket Guide To The Weather'. He has always created his own stream of oil, acrylic and watercolour paintings and 3-D works. He has chaired the Ipswich-based Freelance group of artists since 1988 leading to periodic group exhibitions. He is a member of Ipswich Art Society. In 2015 a retrospective exhibition of Borin's work was held at The Freudian Sheep Contemporary Art Gallery, Ipswich.
