The Bank Arts Centre

The Bank is the arts and community centre of Eye, one of England's smallest market towns, occupying a former bank building at the corner of Castle Street. Founded by local artists in 2012 and run by the volunteer-led community interest company Eyes Open CIC, it is a cultural hub for the town and its surrounding rural area rather than a dedicated visual-arts space: the programme spans live music, comedy and theatre, creative and digital classes, workshops and social groups, alongside a family-friendly cafe and bar. The Vault, its digital hub, has brought digital learning to more than a thousand children and young people.

The visual arts nonetheless have a dedicated home here. The Campbell Gallery, opened in November 2025 with the support of The Abbey Foundation and named in memory of the painter Peter Campbell (1931-1989), who lived and worked at The Abbey in Eye, is the centre's exhibition space, running a year-round curated programme of regional artists. The Bank also presents an annual Young Artist Award for creatives in Norfolk and Suffolk, and its EAST summer exhibition of East Anglian artists has become a yearly fixture.
