Moyse's Hall Museum

It feels a bit fusty and dungeon-like at first. But this museum contains some wonderful historical objects and some very good 17th century artworks from artists such as Mary Beale and Peter Lely.

Dating from around 1180, Moyse's Hall is one of East Anglia's oldest domestic buildings and today serves as West Suffolk Council's principal museum. Its collections of local history, fine art and decorative arts span nine centuries of Bury St Edmunds and the surrounding area.
