Moyse's Hall Museum

It feels a bit fusty and dungeon-like at first. But this museum contains some wonderful historical objects and some very good 17th century artworks from artists such as Mary Beale and Peter Lely.

One of the oldest domestic buildings in East Anglia, dating from around 1180, now serving as West Suffolk Council's principal museum. Moyse's Hall holds significant local history, fine art, and decorative arts collections covering nine centuries of Bury St Edmunds and the surrounding region.
