POWER: The Art Exhibition

This exhibition brings together a year-long collaborative project by Abbie Cairns and Tina Bullen that presents their exploration of POWER. The work shows their journey from Suppression to Freedom and comprises eight large-scale works, created through a mixed media visual conversation. Visitors are invited to enter into their own dialogue with the works and to consider what power means to them.

Both artists are based in Colchester. Dr Abbie Cairns is an artist, teacher and researcher whose practice centres on the use of text and site: she incorporates found language from everyday life into installations, drawing on its original meanings to create a dialogue between the work, its audience and its location, using deliberately inexpensive, DIY materials. Tina Bullen is a freelance artist-educator and writer whose atmospheric, reflective painting explores tone, softness, light and solitude, often inspired by her local environment; she is also the author of three books. Both are active in the Colchester art community and connected to The Art Harbour.
