Pictures from Private Collections

1 Apr 2026 – 25 Oct 2026

The culmination of the Munnings Art Museum's 65th-anniversary displays, bringing together twenty paintings from private collections, many rarely seen in public. The selection demonstrates the versatility of Sir Alfred Munnings and the enduring popularity of his work among collectors. Highlights include 'The Woodcutter' (1899), 'Who's the Lady?' (c.1945, worked up from an earlier study of Princess Mary), and 'The Grey Horse', a large, powerful, movement-filled picture begun in 1913 and finished in 1924.
