Midwinter Show

14 Nov 2026 - 23 Jan 2027

North House Gallery presents new etchings by Mitsushige Nishiwaki and Tim Southall and a special collection of etchings by the late Norman Ackroyd RA, as well as a large selection of colourful ceramics by Adrian August and constructions by Esmond Bingham.

Mitsushige Nishiwaki's large etchings have in the past been intriguingly put together from various small sheets, but now that he has a much bigger etching press he has sent three huge etchings from Japan: two in one piece (Metro and Heinz Tomato Ketchup) and one, double the size, a diptych (Kew).

Tim Southall's etchings are much smaller and largely monochrome, but as ever contain a wealth of witty detail.

The Norman Ackroyd collection includes three boxed sets, Landscapes and Figures 1973, Malin 2008 and St Kilda Revisited 2010, as well as some of the most sought-after individual etchings.

Adrian August is a retired surgeon who has taken up ceramics in a passionate way and produces stoneware bowls and other vessels with brightly coloured glazes. These are complemented by some of the wall-mounted constructions from Esmond Bingham's preceding successful show.
