Esmond Bingham: Constructions

A solo exhibition of new sculpture by Esmond Bingham, who lives and works between Woodbridge in Suffolk and Hackney in London. North House Gallery has shown his work since 2004, and this is his fourth solo exhibition there.

He builds constructions from stained bamboo, rope, string, glass, braid and paper, and his drawings are sometimes shown alongside them. In his own words, the work is characterised by a strong interest in construction and a delight in the unexpected in ordinary materials, and although essentially non-representational it is concerned with the physical, emotional and psychological language of everyday things.

Works in the show include A Foreign Affair, Three Graces, Apparition, Sash with Twist and Ripples Yellow.
