Drew Boroianu
26 Aug 2026 - 7 Oct 2026
Following a career in teaching, Oxbridge-educated Anglo-Romanian artist Drew Boroianu now devotes his time solely to creative work. His pieces for MOTE advance ironic commentary on the creeping computerisation of the organic by fashioning a digital look without the use of any digital tools.
The work explores the tension between the organic and the digital. Using a wholly handmade process, Boroianu creates surfaces and forms that evoke the visual language of digital imagery: fields of pixel-like blocks, cascades of scattered dots and fractured geometric planes, each built up by hand rather than generated on a screen.
During the exhibition, visitors can meet the artist at MOTE, explore his techniques for themselves and contribute to two collaborative pieces made with him.
The exhibition is part of The Shape of Change programme at MOTE, curated by Alicia Doel.
