Lynn Foster: Glass Plus

10 Nov 2026 - 15 Nov 2026

An eclectic exhibition of kiln-formed glass work, both functional and sculptural pieces using imported Bullseye art glass, and a range of sculptural pieces, including work from the Bicycle Series, two aluminium hanging pieces and some ceramic heads.

Lynn Foster is a multi-media abstract artist and designer-maker, creating work in glass, metal, wood, plaster and ceramics. Her principal influences are mid-century and Japanese design and 20th- and 21st-century artists such as Tàpies, Chillida, Miró, Bourgeois, Kiefer and Noguchi.

Her kiln-formed glass is largely abstract and asymmetrical. Her sculptural work includes free-standing, wall-based and hanging pieces, most using metal as the primary material; some are embellished with found objects, as in the Bicycle Series, with the backgrounds either rusted or stained. The Black Haiku series starts with steel sheets, which Lynn "paints" with metal stains before welding thin steel rods onto the surface. Her newest sculptures use aluminium and can be hung from the ceiling or against a wall. More recently, she has been exploring collage, incorporating paper and card, wood, plastic, wire and textiles.
