In 2027 Gainsborough's House marks the tercentenary of Thomas Gainsborough (1727–88) with a landmark exhibition at the artist's Sudbury birthplace, celebrating his achievements with a particular emphasis on Suffolk and the profound influence the county had on his art. Staged in award-winning new galleries, it brings together over 90 paintings, prints and drawings, complemented by personal artefacts and contemporary responses from artists Claire Partington and Daniel & Clara. Highlights include the iconic Mr and Mrs Andrews and Cornard Wood, lent by the National Gallery and shown in Gainsborough's hometown for the first time, with further major loans from Tate Britain, the Royal Collection Trust and others.
