Free Artist Walk & Talk — The Old Debenhams Windows

13 Jun 2026

For nearly five years, the old Debenhams department store at the corner of Head Street and Culver Square has stood empty — a familiar absence in the centre of Colchester. Through Creative Colchester's *Culture for Everyone* programme, its disused shop windows have been turned into a rotating open-air gallery, curated in partnership with Colchester Art Society and the Minories Art Collective and made possible by Khalbros, the new owners of Culver Square.

On Saturday 13 June, four Colchester Art Society artists — Sue Gascoyne (Window A), Julie Cuthbert (Window C), Angenita Teekens (Window F) and Beth Holmes (Window F) — will be stationed at their respective windows from 3 to 4 pm, welcoming the public and talking through the work on show. The afternoon ends with a performance and short remarks from the artists at 4:15 pm at Window A on Head Street.

Free, drop-in, outdoors — no booking required.
