Space time: awkward ;-)

An exhibition that has been constructed, stitched, carved, drawn, painted, knitted, quilted and sewn by hand. It is made with skill and the improvisational ability that comes with it, a cheerful refusal, grounded and deliberate, unapologetic about being out of step.

This is Cloakroom's second exhibition, and the final stop of a travelling show previously seen in Stockholm, Wivenhoe and London. It is presented by The Grange Projects with Blackwater Polytechnic, who build their exhibitions rather than hanging them, constructing a temporary armature that is neither flat, nor clean, nor pure, nor white, nor solid, nor finished-looking. Artworks sit in conversation with each other, not in sequence along a wall but in relation, like a life-size mind map, each piece finding its meaning as a node through proximity.

Cloakroom is an artist-led gallery project in a historic building, initiated by The Grange Projects and facilitated by the artists John Plowman, Dr Nicola Streeten and Sally Plowman. Entrance is free and everyone is welcome.
