Richard Allenby-Pratt
Richard is a documentary photographer and author of 'The Suffolk Project', a long term study of the county with a particular interest in the landscapes, ecology, people and industries. Richard lives in Yoxford in East Suffolk. He previously worked as a commercial photographer in London and the Middle East, and has been an exhibiting photographic artist for some 20 years. His personal photographic projects have been featured in international media, art festivals and museums. 'The Suffolk Project' has been featured in National Geographic magazine and most recently, a story about the impacts of Sizewell C works on the Suffolk countryside and people was featured in the Telegraph Magazine. Richard is an occasional writer and conservation journalist, producing stories for publications such as The Suffolk Magazine.
Artist Statement
Having travelled worldwide as a commercial and documentary photographer, my interest has now settled on the quiet English county of Suffolk. I am proud to be a 'parochial' photographer. Most of what I do is underpinned by advocacy for the environment, nature conservation and regeneration, and sustainability. I also now teach photography and utilise its potential to promote wellbeing in individuals and communities; to slow down and appreciate what is on their doorstep.
