Pam Schomberg

Pam Schomberg is a contemporary potter working from her studio at Cuckoo Farm Studios in the Essex countryside. A Fellow of the Society of Designer Craftsmen, an Honorary member of the Suffolk Crafts Society and a Selected member of Anglian Potters, she has exhibited both nationally and internationally, with work shown at The Open Eye Gallery (Edinburgh), the Cecelia Coleman Gallery (St John's Wood), The Crypt at St Paul's and the William Morris Gallery (Walthamstow), among others; Liberty of London acquired a collection of her work as part of a store promotion.

She began her career after graduating from Sligo Art School in the rugged landscape of the west of Ireland, then returned to Colchester to continue her studies at the School of Art there. She set up her first studio in the town and became a full-time potter, and her distinctive work soon drew a full schedule of exhibitions across the United Kingdom and Europe.

She went on to open Gallery Schomberg in Colchester, which within two years became a Craft Council Selected Gallery - a platform for established makers from across the country alongside her own work, and a stage for emerging new talent. After fifteen years running the gallery, she closed it to return to her own work full time, relocating to the Cuckoo Farm Studios art community, where she continues to make and develop new work - a development of past collections but, in her own words, "something quieter."
