Lynn Reed-Golden
Lynn Reed-Golden is a South African-born, North Essex-based artist working across sculpture, textiles, bronze and mixed media. She holds an MA in Fine Art (Distinction) from Norwich University of the Arts (2022) and a BA(Hons) in Creative Textile Crafts from the University of Huddersfield (2002). A member of Colchester Art Society, she describes herself as 'a maker of things' whose process-led practice investigates memory, family narratives and the way objects keep family stories alive. Her ongoing 'Memory Tools' series realises speculative, fantastical bronze-and-found-object tools that examine remembering, forgetting and misremembering, while related textile and cyanotype works rework found family photographs and text. She has exhibited across the UK and South Africa, including the CAS Winter Exhibition at The Minories (Colchester), Fronteer Gallery (Sheffield) and the Anteros Arts Foundation (Norwich).

absence/ presence recapture, retelling, process obsessed, taking my time exploring ideas/research through making the feel of fabric and yarn between fingers, the needle marking the surface, unpicking, redoing (re)found text changing meaning, recreating a new story.
recreating, reworking the story, layers of meaning ambiguity, peeling away the supposed truth.
