Julie Iveson

Julie Iveson is based at Long Melford in Suffolk. Her subjects are landscape and wildlife, and she is drawn to skies and to variation in tone. She works in watercolour, pen and wash and mixed media, occasionally in pointillism, and has also worked on black watercolour paper.

She served as Chairman of Suffolk Art Society for five years, and remains on its committee and a member of the society. She exhibits around East Anglia and takes occasional commissions, and much of her work is also reproduced as greetings cards, bags, tea towels, keyrings and coasters.

Artist Statement

Art came back into my life about 12 years ago and has proved to be rather addictive! Having been an international gymnast when I was younger, has led to me needing hip replacements at a young age. Hence I needed to find something a little less strenuous on my joints and a local teacher encouraged me to pick up the paintbrush again. As a physiotherapist by day, I have limited time for my hobby but I really enjoy the opportunity to capture the wonderful countryside around us. It has really made me look at everything around us in a different way.

Regarding my art merchandise , it is lovely that the paintings continue to live on, albeit in a different format.

I am looking forward to experimenting further in years to come and what happy accidents and creations may come about.
