Dale Devereux Barker

Dale Devereux Barker is a printmaker based in Capel St Mary, Suffolk. He works principally in linocut and screenprint, alongside vitreous enamel, lithography and painting. He trained at Loughborough College of Art and Design and at Leicester Polytechnic, where he took a First Class BA (Hons) in Fine Art Painting in 1984, and completed a Higher Diploma in Fine Art Printmaking at the Slade School of Fine Art, University College London, in 1986. He also studied at the Cyprus College of Art in Paphos.

He was elected an Associate of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers in 1996 and a Fellow (RE) in 2001. His work is held in public collections including the Victoria and Albert Museum, Tate and the National Gallery of Australia, as well as numerous corporate and private collections. He has received several printmaking awards and prizes over the course of his career.

Devereux Barker has held more than one hundred solo exhibitions since 1989, most recently the 100 Days, 100 Prints show at Bircham Gallery. He has produced over twenty artists' books in collaboration with poets and writers, copies of which are held in collections including the British Library and the libraries of Yale and Harvard universities. Alongside his studio practice he taught in higher education from 1986 to 2016 and has led printmaking courses at West Dean College.
