Art at the Alison Richard Building
Art at the ARB is the exhibition space of the Alison Richard Building on the University of Cambridge's Sidgwick Site, the home of the Centre for Research in the Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities (CRASSH) and the Department of Politics and International Studies (POLIS). It hosts several exhibitions a year, of local and regional art alongside research-based and documentary exhibitions, across the atrium and the three upper floors.
It was founded in 2013 by a group of staff members who are artists and creatives, and is run voluntarily by an art committee drawn from the departments and centres in the building. Outside, sunk below the paving, is Edmund de Waal's permanent installation A Local History: three vitrines of porcelain, meant to be happened upon as you cross the site.
